The name alone is sufficient to evoke images and make countless football fans around the world dream about the "jogo bonito", the beautiful game generally associated with Brazilian football artists. The mythical Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro has a capacity of 76,935 seats and hosted for the second time after 1950 a memorable final match of a FIFA World Cup which Germany won 1-0 against Argentina.

 

The oval-shaped arena was host of the final of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2013 and saw four group matches, one match of the round of last 16 and one quarter-final plus of course the ultimate match of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. It is owned by the State Government of Rio de Janeiro and also served as stage for the 2016 Olympic Football Tournament.
